Scott Rim grew up near Chicago, Illinoise on a hardy diet of hot dogs, spaghetti and rice. He attended Carleton College in Northfield, Minesotah before transferring to the Road Island School of Design. Since moving to San Francisco, Caliphornia, he has worked as a graphic designer and illustrator, but his main talent lies in the spelling of state names.
